Freedom/Hate on Kindle Scout!

23 Jan

As one of the youths would say (…in 1994), it is time to “rock the vote!”

For the past couple of years, I have been working on a new project called the Freedom/Hate. It’s a series of novels, set several decades from now, in a world where people have lost the basic rights that we take for granted today. It’s a world where there is no starvation, no homelessness, no unemployment, no lack of healthcare… but all of these privileges have been twisted into something ugly. People no longer have the freedom to choose what they eat, where they live, where they work, or how they are treated when sick. To speak out against the system is a criminal offense.

Freedom Hate Tilt CloudsFreedom/Hate is about the struggle of some to reclaim those rights, and what may be an even harder struggle for others–the struggle to ignore what is happening to them out of fear of losing the only life they know.

In the first book of the series, we meet Collin Powers. He is a low ranking rebel who finds himself on the run from authorities who have accused him of being a terrorist and a murderer. His picture is being broadcast all over the city. Returning to his home is not an option.

Elsewhere in the city, there is Libby Jacobs. She is a character who is the opposite of Collin in many ways. The battles that she fights are not about rights, they are about survival. Her mother is growing sicker by the day, forcing Libby to give up the fun of youth in order to take on the responsibilities of running their household. And when she discovers that her cousin, Uly, is hiding a very disturbing secret, Libby must decide whether or not she can trust the people that she has known her entire life.

As the series goes on, each book will grow more complex and the storylines will mature. Battles fought on one’s own soil can become sloppy and painful very fast.

Freedom/Hate is currently has a campaign running on Kindle Scout. Through 12:00 am EST on February 22, 2016, anyone with an Amazon account can nominate this book for publication. At the end of that campaign, Amazon will review the book and the number of nominations received, and they will decide whether or not to publish the book through Kindle Press.

If you are interested in supporting this book, please nominate it by following any of the links above. Then tell your friends to do the same. Then tell them to tell their friends.

Whether or not Freedom/Hate is selected for publication, your support is greatly appreciated. This book will see the light of day. The only question is how.

My condolences that FREEDOM/HATE wasn’t picked up by Kindle Scout. I voted for it. Your farewell note to voters said that I could find out how to contact you by Twitter here, but I don’t see that. Would I please be able to email you?
